Famous Southland Party returns
The iconic Southland Party is making its highly anticipated return to Parliament in Wellington in July this year.
Southlanders and those with links to Southland are being encouraged to put a ring around the date - Friday, July 25 – and get ready to purchase their tickets, which are always in high demand.
The event will bring together expat Southlanders, deep south residents, and those with strong ties to the region for a night of connection, celebration, and Southland hospitality in Parliament’s Banquet Hall.
Tickets are expected to go on sale in mid-April, with a portion of proceeds supporting this year’s official charity, The Grace Street Project, an initiative to create a mixed-use community hub in south Invercargill.
This year marks the sixth event since the Southland Party was relaunched in 2012 after a nine-year break.
Backed by a group of key partners, sponsors and suppliers, the Southland Party will once again feature the best in Southland food and beverages and an amazing array of lucky door prizes for attendees.
Event organisers are proud to announce the strong backing of key partners so far, including Alliance Group, Lion, NZAS, Great South and the Southland Chamber of Commerce.
The event is also supported by Garston Hops, Hokonui Moonshine, Bluff Gin, Third Island Gin, The Highlanders, Rugby Southland, Southland Sharks and Mash Catering.
First established in the 1990s and re-launched in 2012 after a nine-year break, the Southland Party has become a staple event for those with a connection to the region.
Southland Party organising committee chair Brian Finn says the night is a perfect opportunity to come together and celebrate all that makes Southland special.
“It’s a brilliant opportunity for Southlanders and those with links to our region to catch up, share stories, enjoy world-class Southland food, and raise a glass to our province. It’s also an opportunity to proudly showcase Southland in the capital.
It’s always a great night, and we encourage Southlanders from Wellington, those from Southland who want to enjoy a weekend in the capital and those from other parts of the country to mark the date now and ensure you secure a ticket to be part of the celebrations.”
